SEATTLE — After three harrowing days of being severely injured and stranded in the Olympic National Park wilderness before her rescue Monday, Dana Crane remains in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center.
Crane, 19, of Brunswick, Maine, was transported from Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles to the Seattle hospital Monday night.
Crane, a student at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, broke her leg and sustained injuries to her sternum, pelvis and lower vertebrae after falling more than 20 feet Friday from the cliffs at Strawberry Point, five miles south of LaPush.
She went without food or water for three days, until Dave Skinner of Port Angeles and his girlfriend happened to come across her on a day hike Monday afternoon.
Skinner, a volunteer with Olympic National Park, was able to use his cell phone and call for help.
The endurance that probably helped Crane get through the ordeal may have come from her athletic background.
