PORT ANGELES — Mark Gregson will begin his tenure as interim chief executive officer at Olympic Medical Center on Wednesday.
Outgoing CEO Darryl Wolfe’s last day will be Tuesday.
Hospital officials announced the moves in a press release Thursday afternoon.
The OMC board of commissioners voted 5-2 on Aug. 8 to appoint Gregson.
Commissioners made clear from the outset of the selection process that they sought an interim leader who would focus on improving the hospital’s financial performance and compliance standards and advance a strategic partnership with UW Medicine.
“The Board selected Mark because of his expertise in rural healthcare and his extensive experience as an interim CEO,” board chair Ann Henninger stated in the press release. “He brings a strong ability to collaborate with physicians, actively engage employees, and guide organizations towards long-term success. We are confident that his leadership during this interim period will allow the Board the time needed to conduct a thorough and thoughtful search for a permanent CEO.”
The interim CEO is a temporary position. Gregson will not be considered for the permanent CEO role.
“I am honored to join OMC as interim CEO during this important time in its history,” Gregson stated in the press release. “I look forward to collaborating with the board, executive leadership, staff and providers to help ensure we can continue to deliver the exceptional care this community relies on.”
