PORT ANGELES — John B. Nutter, a Port Angeles police officer and former Olympic Medical Center finance director, was selected to the OMC board of commissioners in a special meeting Friday.
In a 5-1 vote, the six commissioners picked Nutter over co-finalist Jerry Nichols of Port Angeles to fill the position vacated by Cindy Witham.
“I am honored to have been selected by the other board members, and I look forward to working with them in the future,” Nutter said.
The 38-year-old from Port Angeles will be sworn in May 6.
Witham, whose resignation took effect March 4, cited “outstanding irreconcilable differences involving the board and various policies.”
Board president Jim Leskinovitch said both Nutter and Nichols were “extremely qualified,” and described them as “great citizens.”
“I just want to thank both of them, publicly, for applying,” Leskinovitch said.
“They are both extremely well-suited for this position.”
