PORT TOWNSEND – Formal charges against an 18-year-old man investigated in the robbery of Washington Mutual bank last week were postponed Monday because authorities think another person might be involved.
Bail for Cory Alexander Furford, arrested Friday in connection with the robbery, was set at $100,000 during his initial Superior Court appearance – via video monitor from the Jefferson County jail – on Monday.
County Prosecuting Attorney Juelie Dalzell said she didn’t seek charges against Furford on Monday because police are still investigating the possible involvement of another person and want to have all the facts first.
Furford, an Oak Harbor resident who formerly lived in Port Angeles, is expected to be formally charged at a court hearing at 11:30 a.m. today, Dalzell said.
Those arrested in connection with crimes are generally charged during their first appearance in court.
Furford remained in Jefferson County jail as of Monday night.
