Almost one year after a Forks High School student was hospitalized following a fight in the school’s cafeteria, prosecutors say they’re charging the teen-ager accused in the incident.
Clallam Country Prosecuting Attorney Chris Shea said Thursday that Grant Michael Romberg will be charged with reckless endangerment, a gross misdemeanor.
Romberg, then 18, allegedly put Greg Bellamy Jr., then 16, into a headlock after a June 12 food fight in the school’s main hallway.
Bellamy’s head hit the floor when Romberg let him go, witnesses said. Bellamy suffered a strangulation injury, skull fracture and brain swelling, authorities said.
He was airlifted to a Seattle hospital with critical brain swelling. The teen-ager was kept in a drug-induced coma for more than a week and spent almost a month in hospitals.
