FORKS — The Quillayute Valley Scholarship Auction is going global.
For the first time, the annual auction that since 1964 has raised hundreds of thousands dollars for local graduating students and alumni who are continuing their educations, will be broadcast live on the World Wide Web at www.qvsa.forksweb.com.
The site, which is already up and running, will display hundreds of objects live via Web cam during Saturday’s and Sunday’s auction.
People who want to bid on an item — which this year includes a doll collection, a train set and a car — will have to call 360-374-2261 when they see something they like to bid on it.
Credit card payments will be accepted over the telephone.
Online viewers of the auction will also be able to browse a list of items up for bid.
Run by volunteers
The annual event run by volunteers — not by the Quillayute Valley School District — will be held at the Forks Bank of America, 481 S. Forks Ave., Saturday and Sunday from about 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All proceeds will be distributed among Forks High School and Quileute Tribal School graduating seniors who are continuing their educations.
