FORKS — A 21-year-old Forks man died Sunday from injuries suffered in an offroad motorcycle crash.
Kristopher K. Lindgren had jumped as high as 30 feet in the air when he lost control of the motorcross bike he was riding, said Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Lenahan.
The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. in a gravel pit in Olympic National Forest northeast of Forks. The pit is located 6 miles east on Forest Road 29, commonly called the “A” Road.
“It was just a group of young adults having fun on offroad machines and it turned bad,” Lenahan said.
People at the scene performed CPR on Lindgren, but because of the remoteness of the location others had to drive to get help.
Lindgren was taken by ambulance to Forks Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead after about an hour, Lenahan said.
Lindgren was wearing a helmet, but had just switched to a larger, more powerful motorcycle, which may have contributed to the crash, Lenahan said. There was no indication that alcohol was a factor in the accident, he said.
