PORT ANGELES — A fire on Hickory Street east of Port Angeles resulted in the total loss of a detached shop.
No injuries were reported.
Clallam County Fire District 2 (CCFD2) responded to reports of a detached shop that was on fire about 1 p.m. Wednesday. When Deputy Chief Kevin Denton arrived, he said the fire had extensively spread across a shop that was about 40 feet by 50 feet.
“Flames were through the roof at that point,” he said.
Crews were on scene for about three hours before the fire was fully extinguished, Denton said.
There were some initial difficulties in putting out the fire due to water supply issues, which were solved when water tenders arrived, he added.
Additionally, a downed power line on one side of the structure blocked access to that area until Clallam PUD disconnected the power, Denton said.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation Thursday, Denton said.
The Port Angeles Fire Department and Clallam County Fire District 3 provided support, and Olympic Ambulance stood by in case it was needed.
