PORT ANGELES — A faulty breaker at a Clallam County Public Utility District substation is believed to have caused an outage that knocked out electrical power to 1,600 customers east and south of Port Angeles on Tuesday.
The outage started at about 10:57 a.m. and affected areas around Gales Addition east of Port Angeles and near Mount Angeles Road, south of the city limit.
Power was fully restored at 1:05 p.m.
Power had briefly been restored for eight minutes at 11:50 a.m. before being lost again.
Clallam County sheriff’s deputies and state troopers directed traffic on U.S. Highway 101 from Monroe Road to Kolonels Way, where Walmart is located.
Undersheriff Ron Peregrin said around noon that traffic had been mildly impacted.
