EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Harm reduction center positions before Clallam County

Government meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Neither Jefferson County commissioners nor Port Angeles City Council will meet this week.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider a request from Health and Human Services for three new, full-time positions for the Harm Reduction Center during their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• An agreement with the state Military Department for continued grant funding under the Operation Stonegarden program.

• An agreement with the state Department of Agriculture for increased funding of the county’s knotweed control program.

• An agreement with the state Department of Commerce for a 2024 Victim/Witness Assistance Grant to be administered through the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

• An agreement with the state Department of Ecology for $4,092,854 to support land acquisition, design, permitting, water rights work, outreach and project management activities on the Dungeness off-channel reservoir project.

• A pre-grant application to the state Administrative Office of Courts for a walk-through screening device for the Superior Court.

• A discussion of possible proposals for submission to the Washington State Association of Counties’ 2024 Legislative Steering Committee.

• A request to apply for a state Department of Commerce Justice Assistance Grant Innovation Fund to obtain a tactical field robotic device for the Sheriff’s Office.

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will review proposed scenarios for water and wastewater rates during a special meeting at 10 a.m. Monday.
