EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Clallam commissioners to consider levy lid lift

Meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

A proposed levy lid lift, an amendment to the Clallam County charter and an emergency moratorium will be considered by boards and commissions on the Peninsula next week.

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will conduct a public hearing regarding a proposed resolution to lift the levy lid during a special meeting at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The commissioners also will conduct a work session, at 9 a.m. Monday and their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Additionally, the commissioners will conduct budget planning meetings at 1 p.m and 5 p.m. Tuesday and at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The commissioners also will conduct a joint meeting with the commissioners from Clallam County Public Utility District No. 1 and the Port of Port Angeles during a special session at 1 p.m. Monday.

• A letter of support for the Port of Port Angeles regarding its 2025 Infrastructure Development Program application.

• A call for a public hearing on Aug. 26 regarding an ordinance to amend the consolidated fee schedule for the Clerk of the Superior Court.

• An update on 4-H activities planned for the county fair from Washington State University Clallam County Extension staff.

• Memorandum of understanding with North Olympic Healthcare Network regarding medical and behavioral services for juvenile and adult individuals in the county jail and juvenile detention facility.

• An amended agreement with the state Department of Health for $5,000 to fund the recreational shellfish biotoxin program.

• An agreement with the Port Angeles School District for up to $55,200 to provide developmental disabilities transition program services from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, 2026.

• An agreement with Washington Initiative for Supported Employment for $150,000 to provide training and technical assistance to Washington State County Services for Working Age Adult Policy.

• A resolution extending reduced customer service hours at the Assessor’s Office through Dec. 31.

• An agreement with the state Department of Ecology for $169,197 in cost-shares for Local Solid Waste and Financial Assistance grants to pay for enforcement, permitting, inspecting, reviewing data, outreach, education and investigations.

• Agreement with Department of Ecology for solid waste planning and implementation (2a)*

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 26 regarding the proposed repeal and replacement of Chapter 27.08 of the Clallam County Code, Open Space.

• A letter to the Washington Forest Practice Board regarding non-fish perennial stream rulemaking.

• A letter to the state Department of Ecology recommending option SL-5 for the Rayonier Mill cleanup.

• A budget discussion regarding comparisons to other mid-size counties.

• A resolution appointing Troye Jarmuth, Rick Burns and Diane Chung to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 23 regarding a resolution to authorize $156,805 in allocations of Title III Funds for projects under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act, including $10,000 to Fire District #5, $10,805 to Fire District 6, $10,350 to the Sheriff’s Office, $47,429 to Fire District #2 and $78,222 to Fire District #3.
