Government meetings in Jefferson County

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on an amendment that would restrict or prohibit fireworks under certain conditions at a meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. Monday.

The commissioners will also hear an update on COVID-19 from Dr. Allison Berry at 9:45 a.m., conduct a public hearing on charges for public records requests for body camera footage and will consider a 10th temporary policy for emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Items on the consent agenda include an interlocal agreement with the Port of Port Townsend to reimburse the county $49,107 in return for releasing the port from its agreement to host the county’s moderate risk waste facility; an agreement with Clark Land Office, PLLC, for up to $17,000 for preliminary surveying for the north segment of the state Highway 19/Rhody Drive pedestrian — bike improvement project, an agreement with the state Office of Public Defense for $35,902 to improve the public defender’s office; an agreement to accept a grants of $1,724.50 for assistive listening devices and $8,611 for installation of a “Serenity Spot” in the JUMP! playground in H.J. Carroll Park, an agreement to grant an easement for utilities at the Seventh and Hendricks affordable housing project and a grant to Olympic Community Action Programs for $600,000 to support the Seventh and Hendricks affordable housing project.

Assoc. of counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will continue their “We’re still listening, Quilcene” conversation with local residents at an informal meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Utility District

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will discuss hiring incentives at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners will meet in executive sessions during a pre-meeting workshop at 3 p.m. to discuss potential litigation with counsel and to consider computer and telecommunications network security.

Joint schools meet

The Port Townsend and Chimacum school boards will meet jointly at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in-person only at Port Townsend High School, 1500 Van Ness St., Port Townsend.

The boards will celebrate their recent joint resolution and discuss the ways that the two districts will work together.

Quilcene schools

The Quilcene School Board will discuss the outdoor learning pavilion when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.
