EYE ON CLALLAM: County to mull ADU code change

Government meetings across Clallam County.

The three Clallam County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on an ordinance to amend the zoning code section pertaining to accessory dwelling units at a meeting that begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The public hearing on code for accessory dwelling units (ADU) will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday

The commissioners also will meet in their weekly work session at 10 a.m. Monday. The work session will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday

Agenda items include:

• An amendment to the contract with Salish Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization to explicitly prohibit the purchase, prescribing, provision of marijuana or treatment using marijuana for substance use disorders.

• Letters to local tribes soliciting input on the site selection for the proposed joint public safety facility.

• An agreement with the state Department of Ecology for a grant to fund a study of organics in the waste stream.

• A resolution for traffic control devices to include regulatory, warning, school, guide, recreation and road name signs.

• A request from the Department of Transportation for a temporary easement near Sequim Bay Lodge to support an upcoming fish barrier removal project.

• An agreement with the North Olympic Development Council for up to $1,200 per month to facilitate meetings of the county’s Broadband Action Team.

Assoc. of Counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

The Forks City Council will discuss adopting a uniform plumbing code when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
