EYE ON CLALLAM: County to consider grant to Forks

Government meetings across Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider final approval for a $2,375,610 grant to the city of Forks for retrofits to its wastewater treatment facility in their weekly work session on Monday and weekly business meeting Tuesday.

Both meetings will be on Tuesday due to the Presidents Day holiday on Monday.

Agenda items include:

• An agreement with the Port Angeles Fire Department for $201,200 to provide the community paramedicine program from Jan. 1, 2022 through Dec. 21, 2023.

• The annual request for qualifications for architectural and engineering consulting services.

• An update to the interlocal agreement between the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

• Renewal of the federal grant to fund recreational boating enforcement in Clallam County.

• An agreement with the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau for $650,000 to promote year-round tourism.

• A joint letter of support, with the city of Sequim and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, for on/off-ramps and a frontage road in the the Simdars Road interchange project.

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider an amendment to the log yard site and stormwater improvement contract with Kennedy Jenks Consultants during a regular meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The Sequim School Board will hear a second reading of policy 2125 “Sexual Health Education” when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Library Trustees

The North Olympic Library System Board of Trustees will hear an update on the library’s COVID-19 response an online meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The board also will hear updates on its meeting locations for the remainder of 2022, the Sequim branch library expansion and renovation project and on the bookmobile project.

OESD 114

The Olympic Educational Service District 114 board of directors will discuss, in executive session, the qualifications of an applicant for superintendent during a special meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be conducted exclusively in-person at the district offices, 105 National Ave. N, Bremerton.

The directors may continue the discussion, online only, at 9 a.m. Thursday.

The board is expected to select a candidate for superintendent by 11 a.m. Thursday.

The Strait of Juan de Fuca Ecosystem Recovery Network members will discuss possible federal infrastructure funding for Port Angeles Harbor Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration at their winter quarterly meeting that will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

The Port Angeles harbor discussion will begin at 11:30 a.m.
