EYE ON CLALLAM: County to consider grant for Forks sewer plant

Local government meetings across Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider an Opportunity Fund grant for $2,375,610 to upgrade the city of Forks’ Wastewater Treatment Facility in their weekly work session at 9 a.m. Monday. The work session also will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• Several resolutions regarding appointments and reappointments to boards and commissions.

• A resolution authorizing the Board of Equalization to convene.

• A purchase agreement with Codan Radio Communications for $59,850.71 to upgrade the law enforcement dispatch radio system.

• A five-year lease agreement with Olympic View Properties, Inc. for offices for the Family Support Division; monthly rent will be $1,780 in 2022 and will increase annually to a monthly rate of $2,040 in 2026.

• A presentation on the Child Advocate Program from Kimberly Burns and Valerie Brooks.

• A draft ordinance on surety bonds for certain county officials.

• A draft letter of support regarding a Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities grant for the Dungeness off-channel reservoir project.

• A time extension on the lower Dungeness River floodplain restoration project.

• The appointment of Rachel Weed as deputy clerk of the board.

• Discuss a request from the Climate Advisory Group to request informal emissions inventory proposals.

• An agreement with Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. for $95,400 to upgrade geographic information systems.

• Agreements with nine agencies for $1,092,026 to provide behavioral health services during the 2022-2023 biennium.

Association of counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday. Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Jennifer Burkhardt, general counsel, will swear in new commissioners Tom Oblak, Thom Hightower and Heather Jeffers and the board will elect new officers for 2022.

Port Angeles city

Sequim schools

New interim Superintendent Joan Zook will attend her first Sequim School Board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday. She replaces Jane Pryne who resigned as interim superintendent at the end of 2021.

The regular meeting is open to the public remotely and, weather permitting, in-person at 503 N. Sequim Ave. Masks are required for attendees. Live public comments via Zoom and in-person will be heard during the meeting.

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will discuss a request for qualifications for architectural services when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners meet at Station 34, 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim Masks must be worn by anyone attending regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status.
