EYE ON CLALLAM: County commissioners to reorganize

The three Clallam County commissioners will elect a chair and vice chair at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Other agenda items include:

• A request for proposal opening for a homeless gaps and needs analysis.

• An agreement with K&H Printers for the printing and mailing of February special election ballots.

• A $39,000 agreement with Parks, Fair and Facilities for hotel/motel tax funds.

• An $150,000 agreement with public works for hotel/motel tax funds.

• A $500,000 agreement with Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau for hotel/motel tax funds.

• Agreements with West End Outreach Services, Peninsula Behavioral Health, Serenity House of Clallam County, the city of Port Angeles, Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic, Reflections Counseling Services Group, First Step Family Support Center and Olympic Personal Growth Center for behavioral health funds.

• An amended agreement with Western Federal Lands Highway Division for East Beach Road improvements.

• An agreement with Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel for the disposal of indigent persons’ remains.

• A resolution designating commissioner involvement on advisory boards.

• A resolution authorizing expenditures from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund for approved lodging tax funding applications.

• A resolution reappointing Donald Edwards to the Fair Advisory Board.

Commissioners will discuss items set for future action in a work session at 9 a.m. Monday.

Agenda items include:

• An agreement with Sound Law Center for Code Enforcement hearing examiner services.

• An agreement with NCIC Inmate Communications, Inc. for a resident telephone system.

• A resolution appointing Richard Bloomer to the Trails Advisory Committee.

• A resolution appointing Rochelle Blankenship and reappointing Theodore Shanks to the Sheriff’s Citizens Advisory Board.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will hear a status report from the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce on a downtown vision project at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will consider action on Superintendent Robert Clark’s contract and on a measure to extend the acting superintendent’s contract through Jan. 31 when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

Clark has been on paid leave during an investigation of a complaint that has not been described by the district. Jane Pryne served as acting superintendent until the end of December.

After the last school board meeting, the board president, Brandino Gibson, said that the board decided to follow legal recommendations concerning Clark but did not say what those recommendations are.

The board also will consider several policies, including one concerning conflicts of interest,

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will consider COVID supplemental leave policy, the classroom project cost summary and claims and payroll through Jan. 5 when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
