BRINNON – Fire investigators have determined that a fire that destroyed a home on U.S. Highway 101 in Brinnon on April 18 was caused by an electrical overload, said Brinnon Fire Chief Bob Herbst.
The fire started in the basement of a 1,260-square-foot, $162,525 house at 304164 U.S. Highway 101 and burned it to the ground.
Herbst said he and two other Brinnon Fire Department investigators began working to determine the cause even while the fire was still blazing.
The investigation involved interviewing witnesses, taking photographs and analyzing forensic evidence taken from the charred remains of the house.
The Jefferson County Fire Task Force was used as a consultant during the investigation, but the Brinnon Fire Department conducted it.
