The edges of the North Olympic Peninsula are due to get another buffeting of strong winds through this afternoon.
The National Weather Servcie on Monday night issued a high wind watch for the Admiralty Inlet area north past Bellingham, and for the Pacific coast from Cape Flattery past Grays Harbor.
Southeast winds between 30 mph and 40 mph — with gusts up to 60 mph — are expected this morning, then ease by late afternoon, the Weather Service said.
The winds are caused by a strong frontal system that will keep temperatures unusually warm for the end of December.
The winds are expected to buffet along the east and west coast of the Peninsula, but leave the Port Angeles-Sequim areas relatively calm, weather forecasters said.
However, rain is expected in those areas — and across the Peninsula — into this afternoon and returning Wednesday.
