Driver comes forward in wake of deadly motorcycle crash

PORT ANGELES – A woman who believes she may have been driving the Toyota involved in the fatal collision Monday that killed Donald Niel Davison II phoned the State Patrol after reading about the death in the Peninsula Daily News on Tuesday.

Brian George, a spokesperson with the State Patrol, confirmed that a woman who matches the description of the driver – an elderly woman with short, curly, white hair, who was driving a Toyota sedan – contacted the law enforcement agency Tuesday morning.

George said that as of that evening the detective investigating the crash had not interviewed the woman.

Her name, age and hometown were not released – only that she had phoned saying that she thought she was the driver described in the PDN story.

Davison died at Olympic Medical Center Monday – and was mourned at public meetings on Tuesday.

He was riding a 2005 Honda motorcycle in the right lane headed east through the Morse Creek curve.

Highway 101 makes an “S” curve as it descends and rises out of the Morse Creek drainage east of Port Angeles between Mt. Pleasant and Deer Park.

A blue or gray Toyota sedan in the left lane changed lanes, hitting Davison’s motorcycle, according to the State Patrol.

The sedan did not stop, witnesses told the State Patrol.
