PORT ANGELES — Traffic was backed up Saturday evening after a collision at U.S. Highway 101 and McCarver Road east of Port Angeles.
A woman was traveling east in the dark at about 5 p.m. without her headlights on Highway 101 in a Hyundai Elantra, said Trooper Katherine Weatherwax, State Patrol spokesperson, on Sunday.
The driver of a one-ton Dodge R35 pickup turned left onto McCarver Road from 101 and didn’t see the Elantra, Weatherwax said. The truck hit the car and pushed it into a GMC Sierra.
No one was hurt, Weatherwax said, although the pickup and the Elantra were both completely destroyed.
The driver of the Elantra, Anita M. Charles, 44, was penned in the car, but was still uninjured, Weatherwax said.
The eastbound lanes were blocked. The area was cleared by 6:40 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.
Charles was cited for driving without her headlights on, Weatherwax said.
All involved were wearing seat belts. No drugs nor alcohol were involved, Weatherwax said.
