The fourth annual Dungeness Crab and Seafood Festival topped last year’s attendance and number of crabs eaten, festival co-coordinator Randy Riggins said Monday.
This year, about 3,500 crustaceans met their fate at the two-day festival held on Port Angeles City Pier, he said.
Last year, festival-goers tore through about 2,300 crabs. The festival this year sold that many at 2 p.m. Saturday.
In all, organizers estimate that 12,000 to 13,000 people came, about a 25 percent increase over last year, Riggins said.
He attributed the increase, in part, to the increased presence the festival had on the pier, noting that the vendors that set up shop on it were “better and more.”
