PORT ANGELES — Another death from COVID-19 confirmed on Wednesday brings Clallam County’s total deaths since the pandemic began to 81.
Dr. Allison Berry, health officer for Clallam and Jefferson counties, said the deceased was a man in his 50s who was severely immunocompromised. He had reportedly received the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine but had not received a booster.
Clallam County cases continue to skyrocket due to the omicron variant, according to authorities. Case count rose by 168, bringing the total to 6,812 with a case rate of 1,211 per 100,000.
Ten are reported hospitalized with COVID-19 in Clallam County.
Jefferson County had a reported rise of 28 cases on Wednesday, bringing its total to 1,636. Its case rate will be released on Friday.
One person is in a hospital with COVID-19 in Jefferson County. Twenty have died in the county.
