Terry Weed, operations manager for Clallam Transit System, will move up to general manager Jan. 1.
Clallam Transit’s board selected Weed on Friday from among three candidates for the job. He replaces retiring General Manager Dan Di Guilio.
Weed, a Jefferson County native and onetime news director for KONP radio, has worked for Clallam Transit since its creation 25 years ago. He has been operations manager for two decades.
Lately, he has worked to link Clallam Transit with the countywide OPSCAN combinations network of computers, fiber optics, telephone lines and microwave transmissions.
During his interview with transit commissioners Dec. 9, Weed stressed spreading the public-transportation mission throughout the county.
“We need to keep a transit message out there,” he said.
“The public needs to know that we can always be a partner in the issue, no matter what the issue is.”
