When Clallam County Sheriff Joe Hawe returns from active duty as a U.S. Coast Guard reservist is anyone’s guess — including Hawe’s.
“He has no idea because they haven’t told him. They’re pretty tight with information,” Undersheriff Joe Martin said of Hawe’s status with Coast Guard Investigative Services.
Hawe, a reserve special agent for 20 years, is approaching his fourth month of active duty after he was called up in mid-March because of the war in Iraq and increased homeland security.
Martin said Hawe was in Sequim last week to visit family and friends.
“It was the first time I saw him in three months,” Martin said.
