PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Commissioners will consider a $300,000 personal services contract with the Port Angeles Waterfront Center during their regular meeting next week.
The meeting is set for 10 a.m. Feb. 13 in the commissioners meeting room at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St. in Port Angeles.
The contract was reviewed during Monday’s work session. The $300,000 in lodging tax money already has been included in the county’s 2024 budget. It will “assist with the funding for Field Hall Arts and Events,” according to a staff memo.
So far, the county has contributed a total of $790,000 to the Field Hall/PA Waterfront Center, according to Clallam County Chief Financial Officer Mark Lane.
The money consists of the following:
• $145,000 in lodging taxes in 2022
• $45,000 in lodging taxes in 2023
• $300,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money in 2023
• $300,000 in lodging taxes in 2024
Field Hall Executive Director Steve Raider-Ginsburg recently told the Port Angeles City Council that the downtown theater and conference venue has made great strides in its first six months of operations, but it still has an $8 million gap to close in its $56 million cost.
