CLALLAM BAY — Danny Angulo swings through the locker room door wearing a yellow-and-purple Lakers jersey.
Twice he dribbles a basketball between his legs, then whips it around the back of a female schoolmate hanging out at the Clallam Bay High School gym.
The ball reacts with precision, spinning off the court behind her and into Angulo’s waiting hands on the other side.
He never breaks stride.
His schoolmate is no doubt impressed with the little move, which takes place before the Bruins’ practice on Tuesday afternoon.
Of course, it would never work in a game, and chances are Angulo wouldn’t try it. The point is, the kid has skill.
And so does his brother.
Together, 6-foot-2 sophomore Danny Angulo and 6-1 senior Fidel Angulo make up a quarter of the core eight on this year’s Clallam Bay boys basketball team.
“He’s the older, nagging brother,” Danny says as the two sit in the coach’s room just off the Bruins’ locker room.
