Brinnon: Deputies arrest suspect in burglary

BRINNON — A 43-year-old man with no known address was arrested and charged with three counts of residential burglary Friday following an extensive search through the woods, said Jefferson County Sheriff officials.

Daniel Yerrington arrived at his vacation home at 641 Mountain Trail Road at about 3 p.m. where he discovered a burglary in progress and called 9-1-1 from a neighbor’s house.

Sheriff’s deputies responded, and as the first unit arrived, Yerrington said, he saw the suspect, later identified as Steven Wayne Gray, run into the woods, said Undersheriff Tim Perry.

From the description obtained from the victim, deputies felt they were looking for a suspect who had recently been arrested and charged for multiple burglaries in the general area, said Perry.

Tribal officers responded with their tracking dog but were unable to locate the suspect in the woods.

Additional deputies were called in from off-duty to assist in the search of the area and members of the community were notified of the search, said Perry.

A short time later, a citizen called 9-1-1 after spotting Gray come out of the woods near 850 Mountain Trail Road.
