PORT ANGELES — State Patrol bomb squad personnel found no explosive devices after combing the Walmart Supercenter store in Port Angeles after a male caller said he had planted several bombs in the building and could detonate them remotely.
The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office was notified at 4:24 p.m. Friday and immediately evacuated the building at 3411 E Kolonels Way, said Sgt. Brian Knutson with the sheriff’s office.
A cursory search by deputies found no suspicious or unusual devices were located but they called in the State Patrol Bomb Squad to conduct a more in-depth search.
Deputies cordoned off the area, blocking the entrances until the bomb squad arrived about an hour and half later, Knutson said.
Four explosive material detection police dogs scoured the building Friday night and, when nothing was found, the store was turned over to Walmart management at about 10 p.m.
