JOYCE — The 26th annual Joyce Daze Wild Blackberry Festival provides competitions for people who pride themselves on either their baking or their whiskers on Saturday.
At the one-day festival, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Joyce, more than 200 homemade blackberry pies will be for sale, a pancake breakfast will be served, a parade will march through the community, about 40 vendors will sell their goods, guided hikes will be offered, and — of course — blackberry pies and beards and mustaches will be judged.
“It’s an all-American, small-town festival,” organizer Kathy Walton said.
Last year, about 5,000 people crowded into the community on state Highway 112, about 16 miles west of Port Angeles and 33 miles east of Clallam Bay, and organizers expect about the same amount this year.
