PORT TOWNSEND — Overlooking scenic and historic Uptown, Admiralty Inlet and Port Townsend Bay vistas, eight luxurious condominiums topping the newly rebuilt Aldrich’s Market went on the market Friday.
The condos are part of a $3.7 million project reconstructing one of Port Townsend’s oldest and most beloved landmarks — the 1895 Aldrich’s Market.
The original market went up in the flames of a devastating early morning fire on Aug. 4, 2003.
With heartfelt community support, owners David Hamilton and Jonathan Ryweck decided to replicate the historical “hub of the uptown business community.”
They also decided on a significant modification — two additional stories of premium condos complete with mesmerizing views.
With the store slated to open after the July 16 target date and condos to be completed by the end of September, both owners are looking forward to a busy summer.
“It’s crazy,” says Hamilton as he navigates between construction workers shuffling back and forth in the building on Thursday afternoon.
“It’s a crazy time no matter how much you plan, there is always the unexpected.”
Immediate condo interest
With the condos on the market less than a day, the owners had already received interest in their four-story building that towers over the corner of Tyler and Lawrence streets.
Priced between $350,000 and $525,000, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom condos are all about view and location.
