PORT ANGELES — A Gales Addition couple were robbed of money and jewelry by three armed men wearing disguises who came into their home at 1:27 a.m. Saturday.
No one was hurt by the men, who were armed with guns, Clallam County Chief Criminal Deputy Ron Cameron said, though the woman was assaulted by having water thrown on her.
“These are pretty rare, a full-blown robbery like this,” said Cameron, who did not identify the people.
“It was quite apparent they went in there ready to rob these people,” he said, adding that he didn’t know if the robbers knew the couple.
He didn’t know how the men entered the house, which is in the 3000 block of Fourth Avenue in the residential area just east of Port Angeles.
Once inside, the robbers demanded that the man open a safe and took about $900 in cash and jewelry from it, Cameron said.
They fled in what was thought to be a small foreign vehicle.
“All three of them were males and probably in their early 20s or late teens,” Cameron said.
A Port Angeles Police Department police dog was unable to track a scent in the area.
Cameron said he did not know what kind of disguises the men were wearing.
An investigation is under way by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office detective bureau.
