BLYN — State firefighters and Clallam County Fire District 3 crews on Monday were mopping up a nearly 20-acre wildfire that burned in the Blyn area over the weekend, District 3 Assistant Chief Dan Orr said.
The fire occurred on state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) land off Woods Road and U.S. Forest Service roads in the hills above Blyn beginning Friday.
Sequim-based Fire District 3 crews discovered the fire and assisted a DNR strike team, Orr said.
“I guess it was pretty visible from Jefferson County, so they were getting a lot of calls,” Orr said.
DNR deployed two helicopters, a bulldozer and a strike team to the fire Saturday morning, Orr said.
“We supported them with a water tender (Sunday) and today,” Orr said at about noon Monday.
“I think their goal is to have it wrapped up and done by today.”
