When we think of celebs with iconic eyeliner, a few names come to mind. Taylor Swift, Lauren Conrad and naturally, Zooey Deschanel.
As a bright blue doe-eyed beauty, Zooey’s ’60s-style cat-eye has come to be one of her major beauty signatures. In addition to those incredible bangs, of course.
So when she stepped out for a film screening event without her retro wing, we were surprised (and delighted). We know Zooey has an affinity for hydration and a bit of lip oil in her downtime. And clearly the combo works without eye makeup!
Are we seeing other celebs join in on Pamela Anderson’s no makeup movement? We’d like to think so!
Zooey and Pamela snapped a picture together at a SAG Awards party back in February 2025. In the photo, Pamela had gone for a natural look and Zooey had leant into glam. Perhaps she’s since been inspired by Pam’s bare-skinned glow!
Of course, the alternative assumption is that as a busy mum and performer who just wanted to see a horror film without ending the night with makeup-streaked cheeks, Zooey simply wanted to skip liner for her movie visit. Fair.
Either way, we’re big fans of her natural glow and liner-less eye look. We love a makeup moment, but sometimes it’s nice to let your features stay natural for the night.

People who normally wear a lot of eye make up tend to look particularly different (but that’s not a bad thing) when they skip makeup.
It’s a very rare day indeed that I’ll leave the house without winged eyeliner – especially for a special event.
