With the abundance of blushes on the market, choosing the right blush can seem a little overwhelming.
Skin type and your preferred finish will play a big part, and finding the right shade of blush for your skin tone will also be game-changing.
So to help you navigate your next cheeky choice, we’ve delved into the different types of blush formulas, and named seven of the best to start you off…

Powder blush
Powder blush will leave you with a more prominent, finished look and acts as a great tool for sculpting cheekbones. It’s a great option for those with oily skin as it absorbs grease to give off a matte finish
Cream blush
Dab on the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards to your cheekbones for a foolproof and flirty flush. Cream blush imparts a sheer finish and is easy to blend making it perfect for creating a dew look
Cheek tint
Most cheek tints act as a double agent, as you can apply them to your lips. Once it’s set it wont budge, providing a long-lasting, luminous look – but it also means you will need to blend quickly in order to avoid streaking.
THE BEST BLUSHES TO TRY
#1 Benefit Benetint
We say: This little pot of rosiness has become something of an iconic product. Just a few drops gives you an enviable, buildable flush.”
You say: “This is now my go-to blush. No other product seems to give that “flushed” look with the subtleness that this does. I’m hooked! The colour is the perfect red-glow, you can make it as subtle or as bold as you like, and it just looks so rosy and lovely on the skin.” – Blossy77
#2 The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain
We say: This dual-purpose product is a must-have for your clutch when you want to add colour to your pout and cheeks when you’re on the go.
You say: “This lip and cheek stain is very luxurious. It’s a medium-gel like consistency that is packaged like a lip gloss with a wand applicator. A little goes a long, long way and therefore this product lasts a good while! It has great staying power and delivers a really natural flush of colour. No shimmer, just beautiful soft colour.” – Saltine
#3 Bourjois Little Round Blush Pot
We say: A versatile little pot of soft blush that comes in so many gorgeous colours and can be used for contouring, sculpting or adding an English rose flush to your complexion.
You say: “Very highly pigmented, so you only need to use a very small amount. The little pot seems to last forever, and I just adore the scent.” – Rose_P
#4 NARS Blush
($48, MECCA)
We say: As far as iconic blushes go, NARS ‘Orgasm’ is up there. The coral-pink powder suits most skin tones, with a luminescent finish that gives just the right level of glow.
#5 STILA Convertible Colour
($40, MECCA)
We say: If glass skin is your goal, this buttery cream formula is the one. It provides a pretty sheen that can be used on cheeks and lips, in six skin-flattering shades.
#6 Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cream Blush
We say: A lovely luxurious cream blush that glides on easily and offers a dewy finish with radiant, buildable coverage.
You say: “Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cream Blush is honestly one of the best cream blushes I’ve ever used. The texture is perfect. It really glides on effortlessly, without pulling or dragging on my skin. It’s pigmented enough to wake up my face, but not so saturated with colour that it makes me look like I’m wearing clown make-up.” – Glitterbabe_15
#7 Clinique Cheek Pop
We say: Pretty in the pan, and even prettier on. The satin finish has a slight shimmer to it, and each shade packs a punch.
You say: “The formula is like nothing have come across before. It’s a powder, but is quite solid and appears almost cream like. When you apply it to the cheek, it goes on very smoothly and blends nicely.” – angie_robyn
Do you have a favourite blush? Do you prefer blush, powder or tint?
I wear blush everyday, mainly cream or stick.
The bourjois blush pot is pretty good!
My all time Fav is Nars Orgasm.
They are all so appealing and pretty!
Really beautiful blushes I really like Rosey Glows the above products are fabulous, just love the colour selection.
I think I may have a problem. I have so many blushes. The little Bourjois pots are great value for money, and they last for ages. I have had Benetint and I loved it, but as the article says, you need to work quickly once you apply. But once it’s done it looks great. Nars Orgasm is one I wear quite often. I love Benefit Rockateur and Sugarbomb. But I think my favourite blushes would have to be Hourglass. They feel so luxurious.
As a person who does not blush naturally, I never wear the paint thing version either. Just looks very out of place on my face.
The Bourjois and Nars look so pretty
My favourite is the Mac blushes
I have a clinique powder one which was part of a gwp ages ago. Really need a new one.
I love blushes and have hit pan on my current one. Time to try a new one, or maybe two!
I love a bit of blush
I have the Benefit Bene Tint Cheek & Lip Stain, it is a great product, 2 in 1. I would like to try some of the other great product blushes pictured.
Oh I haven’t tried a liquid or gel
I like blush but I never seem to get the balance right and my cheeks end up looking lop sided. Maybe I’m too fussy.
I mostly like a cream blush, sometimes a powder, and would love to try Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cream Blush or the Clinique Cheek Pop.
I like powder blush best of all but my darling friend gave me NARS Orgasm in a stick and its pretty awesome. Ive found its great for travel along with the Bourjois Little Round Blush Pot. They are such a great size for travel.
Nars make THE BEST blushes!!
Keen to try the benetint
Benetint and Clinique are winners for me
I love Milani Cosmetics blushes as they are super pigmented, easy to blend and great price point.
Nars is the best !!
Not something I’d use (red cheeks enough as it is).
I much prefer powder blushes. My all time fave is Milani Luminoso
Bourjois is such a great brand. I’d have no hesitation trying their blush pot.
I haven’t tried any of these, but I love blusher, I use a cream one usually, and then dust a bit of powder blush on top.
I have tried the NARS “orgasm”, and so wanted to love it. I have fair skin and for me it was too orange, and just a bit too much. I have recently discovered “Peach Glow” by Natio, and LOVE it. It is the perfect peach/pink combination, and adds a beautiful glow. It is a fabulous price too, and I prefer it over any of the others in my collection ( and some of them are in a much higher price bracket). Totally converted.
I always use this for final touch so pretty colours.
I have redness in my cheeks and jaw so I’ve always hated blushes. But they do look lovely
This article is right up my alley. Talk to me about blushes all day. I am curious about the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cream Blush now.
The clinique one looks too nice to use.
So many choices.
Nars orgasm or super orgasm are some of my favourite blushes.
Some really cool choices!!!!
I agree you don’t need a highlighter with orgasm is gorgeous and stays all day.
I love Nars they give me the perfect blush!
Stila looks promising. My current fav is Canmake Cream Cheek from Japan.
I just love my Natio blush. It’s a decent price and gives a nice natural blush look.
I love that a few of these are lip and cheek stains, because versatile convenient products dong more than one thing are the way to gooo 😀
I can attest to the Clinique Cheek Pop, they’re absolutely gorgeous and easy to use.
I have tried one shade of the Clinique Cheek Pop and I really loved it (I wrote a review for it). I might try more shades later.
I’ve reported the spam by TracyMatt on the “SERIAL SPAM MEMBER ON BH” thread.
We love seeing your blush hauls too 🙂
Finding the exact right colour is such a hit and miss. I now blend a couple of not quite right colours to achieve my desired blush.
Nars all the way. Perfect natural glow for an otherwise pale face!
Ha – thanks GeeJ 🙂
The packaging is gorgeous
Stilas products are such high quality
They are iconic
Ive never tried anything from them
