Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o has been named People magazine’s most beautiful person of 2014.
The 12 Years a Slave actress joins the likes of past winners Beyoncé (2012) and four-time list topper Julia Roberts.
Born in Kenya and raised in Mexico, Lupita recently confessed to being “teased and taunted” for her appearance as a child. It wasn’t until her beauty icon, South Sudanese model Alek Wek, gained mainstream success that she found confidence.
The actress is said to be rapt with her People cover, calling it “a major, major compliment”.
We think Nyong’o is the magazine’s best pick yet.
