Coral-coloured eyeshadow tutorial

Is this not the prettiest use of coloured eyeshadow you’ve seen in ages? Sure, it might be a bit much for a day at the office, but the combination of colours and the way they’re blended in a way that makes you think they belong together, is definitely a massive source of make-up inspiration.

The look was created using Sea Blossoms, the new limited edition make-up collection from Aveda, and is all about being “inspired by coral reef technicolours on shimmering skin paired with soft aquatic pastels,” says Janell Geason, Global Make-Up Artist for Aveda.

So go all out with colour and re-create the look as it is, or use the following steps as a guide and tone it down a notch for something a bit more subtle:

1.) Prep your skin with Aveda Inner Light Tinted Moisture SPF15 and Aveda Inner Light Loose Powder in Translucent.
2.) Apply Aveda Petal Essence Face Accent in Shimmer Shell as an all-over skin illuminator, before contouring your cheeks with Aveda Uruku Bronzer in Amazonia.
3.) Highlight the inner corner of your eyelids with the lightest shade in the Sea Grass Petal Essence Eye Color Trio, and then lightly sweep the lightest shade in the Violet Coast Petal Essence Eye Color Trio across the outer corner of your eyes.
4.) Next, blend the darkest shade in the Violet Coast Petal Essence Eye Color Trio along the crease of your eyelid, taking the colour all the way along your upper lash line, and smudging it 2/3 of the way across your bottom lashes.
5.) Smudge the darkest shade in the Sea Grass Petal Essence Eye Color Trio along the inner corner of your bottom lash line, blending it well into the purple hue.
6.) Slick your lashes with a generous coat of Aveda Petal Essence Mosscara in Black Forest, before adding a hint of colour with Aveda Nourish-Mint Smoothing Lip Color in Oyster Pink. For extra shine you can finish up with a touch of Aveda Nourish-Mint Rehydrating Lip Glaze in Coral Sea.

Did you know Aveda had make-up products in its range, and that they’re free of all the nasties? What do you think of this coral-inspired make-up look? Would you ever go all out and wear the look as is, or would you tone it down and incorporate bits of it into your look?
