Amanda Seyfried has been modelling since she was 11 and acting since she was 15, so after spending the majority of her life in on-set makeup chairs, she’s learned a thing or two about beauty. Including which products stand the test of time — like Lancôme’s Juicy Tubes ($35 from MECCA) — which just celebrated their 25th birthday.

“Don’t be fooled, this may seem like your totally typical, sparkly, sticky gloss, but really she’s so much more than that. She always wins the Spring Fling Queen. Everybody’s always under her magic spell. She’s an icon, duh, she’s Juicy Tubes,” she shared via Instagram.

“When I first started working with Lancôme, I had the craziest flashback to the Mean Girls set because Juicy Tubes were everywhere. That product takes me right back,” Amanda told WWW.

But Juicy Tubes aren’t the only icon in her makeup kit — keep scrolling to discover the cult classic beauty products Amanda Seyfried still swears by in her makeup routine.

“I learned to do my own makeup ’cause I realised over the years I know what works on my face and what doesn’t, and I also am like pretty low maintenance and I don’t like a lot of steps. So I was just able to cultivate this routine over the years, she recently told Vogue.

1/ An eyelash curler

“I’m gonna curl my lashes, because my eyelashes, I’ll have you know, are straight,” Amanda explained to Vogue. “Yeah, it’s a bummer. I don’t let other people do it because they sometimes pinch my eyelids.”

After taking a closer look at the piece of equipment Amanda was using to clamp her lashes we realised she had the ultra affordable Wet n Wild High On Lash Eyelash Curler with Comfort Grip ($8 from Amazon Australia) in her hand. Our waning bank balance is squealing with delight.

2/ Any brow product from Anastasia Beverly Hills

“The next thing I’m gonna do is my eyebrows. Huh! Eyebrows. What a concept. They’ve changed over the years. Yes, I too over-plucked, because I was born in ’85, and it’s taken decades to grow them back,” Amanda shared. “So Anastasia [Beverly Hills] was one of the first places I went in LA in my twenties and that’s where I learned about eyebrows.”

“Right now I’m like really loving [Anastasia Beverly Hills Volumizing Tinted Brow Gel] ($48 from Sephora) because it’s easy,” she explained. “I can just use the wand and they paint the lighter coloured wands and make it all more uniform, and that’s what I’m looking for. And I’m looking for thickness, because they are growing back, and they’re growing back well, but there’s some holes.”

3/ A natural-looking blush

Amanda says the one thing that she never understood growing up was blush, but Monika Blunder — her makeup artist on the set of Mamma Mia! — taught her that blush could look natural (and good).

“It’s the secret weapon. It’s incredible,” gushed Amanda. “Like, I don’t have rosy cheeks, unless I’m freezing.”

Amanda usually reaches for Monika Blunder’s Liquid Flush in ‘Salzburg’ ($56.68 from Amazon Australia): “It looks like moisturiser, but it’s the most beautiful colour”.

4/ Mascara is a must

“The most important thing since day one of learning how to do makeup is mascara for me, because I have blonde eyelashes,” Amanda explained as she applied a coat or two of Lancôme’s Lash Idôle Flutter Extension Mascara (usually $66, now on sale for $52.80 from Lancôme).

“When I was shooting Limited Too — I shot Limited Too with Leighton Meester by the way — not a lot of people know that,” she went on to say. “Everybody was so pretty and I was just so awkward. I had braces at one point, and I remember going to the bathroom and putting mascara on, because no one was putting mascara on me ’cause I was a kid and I felt ugly.”

“That poor little girl, because I look back at these pictures — they’re so beautiful — we all looked so happy and youthful, and it goes to show the pressure we put on ourselves at such a young age,” she continued. “It doesn’t have to do with the length or colour of your eyelashes or eyebrows. It’s more about us and less about what the world is seeing.”
