‘Working in healthcare has already been a rewarding and fulfilling choice.’

Thanks to Foundation scholarship, nurse Jeremy Buggy will soon be helping patients on the Peninsula

Over the summer Peninsula College nursing student Jeremy Buggy wrote the following letter to a Peninsula College Foundation donor, sharing the impact that their generosity had on his life both personally and academically.

Every year the PC Foundation awards more than $100,000 in scholarships to dozens of students, removing barriers that might otherwise keep them from pursuing their academic goals.

Dear Donor,

I am writing to express my deep gratitude for your generosity in awarding me this scholarship! My academic journey is made possible by the kindness and support of Foundation donors. Without scholarships and community support, I would not be able to focus on my studies. As a full-time student and parent of two, financing my education was the most significant barrier I faced returning to school. Through PC Foundation scholarships, I have been able to cover tuition and school expenses, insulating my family from economic hardship.

I am entering my final year of the Peninsula College Nursing Program this fall. I have enjoyed every step in the process of becoming a nurse, and I am very excited to graduate and put my degree to work here on the Peninsula! I currently work as a Student Nurse Technician at Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend. I can practice my skills and use my knowledge while supporting my family. I am not a registered nurse yet, but my experience working in healthcare has already been a rewarding and fulfilling choice.

I entered the healthcare field to honor my natural instincts as a caregiver and my love for science. My experience at Peninsula College has been positive and enriching; the faculty have helped me grow since I returned to school. In addition, having the ability to live in our beautiful community, raise a family and receive a degree in nursing is a profound privilege that I am determined to make the best of for myself, my family, and my community.

In closing, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for your kindness and support. I will strive to pay this kindness forward by continuing my community service efforts and becoming the healthcare professional that the community deserves!

Warmly,

Jeremy
