“Fall into fitness” with a Y membership and kick-start your wellness goals

For many, the fall season marks a natural turning point – a perfect opportunity to establish new routines and prioritize health and well-being.

Here on the Olympic Peninsula, the YMCA, is the ideal place to make those goals a reality.

“The Y is here for all — We are here to guide and encourage people to join us in starting now, and setting themselves up for success in the years to come,” manager Jodi Minker explains.

Dedicated to being supportive and ensuring everyone has access to health and wellness, individuals of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join. To help keep fitness and recreation accessible, they also offer financial support for those individuals with limited means.

Benefits of your Y Membership

Committed to strengthening the community, the YMCA offers programs and services that build a healthy spirit, mind and body.

And membership reaches beyond access to facilities.

Benefits include:

  • New state-of-the-art fitness equipment in Port Angeles and Sequim
  • Fully-staffed wellness centers to support members on their journey
  • More than 85 group exercise classes included in the membership – plus monthly outdoor excursions
  • Discounted prices on programs
  • Personal training services
  • Monthly wellness challenges to keep members motivated and accountable
  • Six free guest passes per year for adult memberships
  • Member lounge areas with free coffee and wifi
  • Play-care for infants and toddlers up to 12 years old – included in select memberships or offered at a low cost

Memberships are valid at all three Olympic Peninsula branches – Port Angeles, Sequim and Jefferson County as well as nationwide membership at select facilities, for additional convenience and flexibility.

What makes the Y different

The YMCA is a place where your health goals are not only set but genuinely supported.

Stepping into a YMCA facility, you’ll find an expansive selection of fitness and recreation options – including top-tier equipment for cardio, strength training and flexibility – but so much more.

“We love to connect with our members and really fosters a welcoming community,” Minker says, pointing to the enthusiastic comments from members.

“Last January I started coming six days a week so I can work on my health,” notes YMCA of Sequim member Chuck Engel. “Besides all the health benefits, I also get to meet such nice people.”

Micheal Witkowski, a member of YMCA of Port Angeles, appreciates the Y’s welcoming atmosphere.

“I like being a part of the Y because of the friendly and welcoming people that work here. Plus, I know (that with my membership) I can go to almost any Y across the nation and I will feel the same welcoming family spirit – that’s very refreshing in times like these.”
