Over the pandemic, many of us found ourselves looking at our local communities in a different way. While we choose where we live carefully, and love where we live, what many of us found was that our communities became so much more than they had been before.
We found ourselves investing more in local businesses. We helped our neighbors and recognized the incredible amount of work and compassion that goes into being in a healthcare field — and how important it is for our communities to have such dedicated folks beside us.
More than a business — part of your community

Because they are invested in your community — that investment extends to creating job opportunities for young people — and in training partnerships to fill those important roles. Jefferson Healthcare is teaming up with the local high schools, West Sound Tech, Career Connect WA, Jefferson County Economic Development Counsel, Olympic and Peninsula Colleges to encourage local students to explore the possibilities and the scope of careers in healthcare.
In addition, Jefferson Healthcare has brought on two high school seniors as part of their Senior Culmination project to offer the voice of the student in creating programs that meet the needs of our local youth.
Learn as you go
Maybe you haven’t consider healthcare as a career path — it takes a long time to become a doctor — but what if you could get your Medical Assistant certification or your Surgical Technologist training through on the job training or right out of high school or community college and come into the work force with some significant qualifications and find a great job?
Hands on experience is the best teacher
Beyond the entry-level programs, Jefferson Healthcare also offers a New Grad Nurse Residency Program — a program aimed at recently RN grads looking for support, mentorship, and development during their first year of employment where they will gain comprehensive transition-to-practice experience.
If you are in a current nursing program, then the Student Nurse Tech Program might be the right fit for you. This program will help you expand your knowledge, skills, and jump-start your career. Recent grad, Jeremy notes that, “It’s such a valuable experience to apply your skills… the staff is so supportive and they explain everything. It has helped me grow in my skills so much!”
