Centrum’s acoustic blues workshop celebrates 30 years

Join Centrum this summer for an unforgettable musical journey at the Acoustic Blues Workshop in Port Townsend, Washington! Nestled in the historic Fort Worden State Park, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich traditions of early blues music, guided by some of the world’s finest tradition bearers.

From July 31 to Aug. 4, Centrum’s Fort Worden campus will transform into a vibrant acoustic blues village, alive with the sounds of artists from around the globe who share a deep passion for early blues. This is more than just a workshop; it’s a community of like-minded individuals coming together to celebrate, learn and protect the soulful heritage of blues music.

The workshop delves deeply into the roots of acoustic blues, exploring its gospel origins and offering a taste of its early electric evolution. You’ll have the chance to learn “knee-to-knee” from master musicians in small, focused sessions. Whether you play guitar, harmonica, piano, mandolin, violin, bass, banjo, ukulele, percussion, accordion or sing, you’ll find tailored instruction to hone your skills and inspire your creativity.
