SEQUIM — Sequim Bay Yacht club members are raffling off a quilt as a fundraiser for Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.
“The Spirit of Honu,” a 36-inch-by-29-inch reverse applique on batik quilt, symbolizes good luck and peace, and represents the honu attributes of lifelong protection, wisdom and guidance, creators said.
Each dollar raised via raffle tickets — $5 each or six for $25 — goes directly to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC) for respite care.
To purchase tickets, send a check made payable to VHOCC to: Judy Shanks c/o SBYC PO Box 1261 Sequim, WA 98382. For a record of the purchase and ticket numbers, include a postal or email address to receive a photo of one’s tickets.
The raffle drawing is set for Dec. 14.
The Sequim Bay Yacht Club is also sponsoring the 30th annual Reach and Row for Hospice race in Sept. 17-18, with funds raised to further fund VHOCC’s respite care services.
The 2021 race raised more than $30,800 and the club has raised more than $433,000 since its first races in 1991.
The rowing competition starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, finished by 11 a.m. Sailboat races start at about noon on Sunday, Sept. 18, and conclude at about 4 p.m.
The community invited to come down to John Wayne Marina to watch the competition from numerous vantage points.
