Submissions being accepted for 2024 Tidepools publication

PORT ANGELES — Tidepools, Peninsula College’s annual literary arts magazine, is now accepting submissions.

The submission deadline for entries is Jan. 12; those who are accepted will be announced March 8.

Residents of all ages living in Clallam and Jefferson counties are invited to enter their original artwork, photography, poetry, short stories and music for an opportunity to win cash prizes and be published.

Tidepools is a student-run magazine featuring art, photography, writing and music created by the people of the North Olympic Peninsula.

With nearly 60 years of celebrating local creativity, Tidepools has evolved over the years, dabbling in print and digital magazines, in-person and livestreamed readings and even a short film.

It has been published annually since 1964 by Peninsula College, with support from the Associated Student Council, Peninsula Daily News and The Buccaneer.

First place in all contest categories will win cash prizes. All contest winners are guaranteed publication in the diamond anniversary issue of Tidepools and will receive an invitation to present their work at the launch party in early June.

To make cash awards possible, entrants pay a nominal fee. Youth entries are $5, adult entries are $7.50, and students currently enrolled at Peninsula College can enter the contest for free.

“At Tidepools, we believe access to the arts is essential, and to eliminate financial barriers, all local creators are welcome to enter the non-contest categories for free to be considered for publication, but non-contest entries are not eligible for cash prizes,” organizers note.

Find contest guidelines and enter work online at tidepools.pencol.edu.
