Rhododendron Festival schedule

Here’s the schedule for 70th annual Port Townsend Rhododendron Festival, themed “A Touch of Elegance”:

Saturday, May 14

* Arts and Crafts Fair: downtown, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday, May 15

* Arts and Crafts Fair: downtown, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Monday, May 16

* Royalty Handprints Ceremony: Haller Fountain, Taylor and Washington streets, 3 p.m.

* Centennial Rhododendron Garden opens: Fort Worden State Park, 4 p.m.

Wednesday, May 18

* Royalty Tricycle Races for ages 1-6: Assembly at the Leader parking lot, 226 Adams St., 6 p.m.; race begins at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 19

* Carnival: Memorial Field, opens 3 p.m.

* Pet Parade: Assembly at Van Buren and Lawrence streets, 4 p.m.; judging at 4:10 p.m.; parade begins, 4:30 p.m.

Friday, May 20

* Rhododendron Flower Show: Fort Worden State Park Chapel, entries received 3 p.m.

* Kiddies Parade: Assembly at Monroe and Water streets, 2:45 p.m.; judging at 3:10 p.m.; parade begins at 3:30 p.m.

* Carnival: Memorial Field, opens 3 p.m.

* Kiwanis Fish Fry: American Legion Hall, 209 Monroe St., 5 p.m.-8 p.m.

* Bed Races: Assembly at Washington and Adams streets, 6 p.m.; races begins approximately 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 21

* Elks Pancake Breakfast: Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St., 7 a.m.-10 a.m.

* Jim Caldwell Memorial Rhody Open: Port Townsend Golf Course, 8 a.m.

* Dignitaries Luncheon: Port Townsend Fire Hall, 11 a.m.

* Rhododendron Flower Show: Fort Worden State Park Chapel, noon-5 p.m.

* Carnival: Memorial Field, opens at noon.

* GRAND PARADE: uptown and downtown starting at 1 p.m.

* Spaghetti Feed: Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St., 5 p.m.-8 p.m.

Sunday, May 22

* Elks Pancake Breakfast: Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St., 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

* Jim Caldwell Memorial Rhody Open: Continues at Port Townsend Golf Course, 9 a.m.

* Rhody Run: Fort Worden State Park, registration at 9 a.m., run starts at 11 a.m.

* Rhododendron Flower Show: Fort Worden State Park Chapel, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
