Port Townsend: Fort Worden centennial activities

Anniversary Days kick off the centennial celebration at Fort Worden and is one of four festivals in 2002 that will honor the rich history and significant contributions of Fort Worden.

The festival, which begins May 10 with the arrival of military veterans and others returning to Fort Worden, is slated to run through May 19 and includes the following events:

Friday, May 10

9:45 a.m. — Flag raising with color guard, parade grounds.

10 a.m. — Reunion Center grand opening with Park Commission, Building 203.

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. — Guardhouse Visitor Center and Gift Shop.

11 am – 5 p.m. — “Come Home to Fort Worden”‘ Reunion and History Project, Reunion Center

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. — Commemorative postal cancel stamp, Guardhouse

Noon – 4 p.m. — Commanding Officer’s Quarters Museum open.

Noon – 4 p.m. — Puget Sound Coast Artillery Museum open.

Noon – 4 p.m. — Port Townsend Marine Science Center, Natural History Exhibit.

1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. — Park Campus tours.

3:45 p.m.- 5 p.m. — Coastal Artillery and Defense of Pacific Northwest presentation, Wheeler Theater.

Saturday, May 11

8 a.m. — 10th annual Rhody Bicycle Tour, Haines Street park and ride

9:45 a.m. — Flag raising with color guard, parade grounds.

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. — “Come Home to Fort Worden” Reunion and History Project, Reunion Center.

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. — Guardhouse Visitor Center and Gift Shop open.
