Ken Young will dedicate St. Matthew Lutheran Church’s new organ with a piano and organ recital Saturday evening.

PORT ANGELES — Ken Young will present “A Celebration of St. Matthew’s Musical Instruments” at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 132 E. 13th St., Port Angeles.

Admission to the piano and organ recital is by donation, which will benefit the church’s preschool.

The concert will dedicate the church’s new pipe organ, which was recently installed by Bond Organ Builders of Portland, Ore.

Young, a local pianist and organist, will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, BWV 582 and Toccata in F major from Charles-Marie Widor’s Organ Symphony No. 5 on the church’s new organ.

The program will feature several of Young’s own compositions, including a medley of songs composed for Olympic Theatre Arts’ “Lavender Legacies” on the church’s 9-foot Steinway concert grand piano.

He also will perform some traditional hymns during which the audience is encouraged to sing along.
