Improv workshop

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Community Players will sponsor a free improvisation workshop from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The monthly workshop is at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The workshop, conducted by Lara Starcevich and Fred Robinson, is open to anyone 16 years or older.

New Year’s program

PORT ANGELES — Joseph Bednarik will present “Waking Up Inside Our Time” from noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Bednarik will speak at the Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1033 N. Barr Road.

The program includes meditation, writing exercises, creative expression and a paper shredder to let go of the past and move into today.

Bednarik, a co-publisher at Copper Canyon Press in Port Townsend, is a regular speaker at Unitarian Universalist congregations across the Puget Sound region.

The program is free, open to the public and includes pizza.

Dance concert

SEQUIM — Sequim Elks will host a dance and concert from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

The dance is at the Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road.

Cool Jam and the Marmalades will perform classic rock.

Admission is $10 per person, $8 for Elks members.

CHIMACUM — District 15 of Washington Old Time Fiddlers will host a jam session from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Birding hike

PORT TOWNSEND — Monica Fletcher will lead a birding hike around the Chinese Gardens lagoon, then to North Beach from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The group will meet at the North Beach parking lot, 5787 Kuhn St.

Hikers will be able to see seabirds, mixed flocks of passerines and wintering waterfowl.
