The May full moon, also called the Flower Moon, seems to rest upon a wisp of cloud as it rises above the North Olympic Peninsula on Thursday, May 7, 2020.

This full moon, seen here in Port Townsend, will be the last supermoon of 2020.

Other names for it include the Corn Planting Moon, the Milk Moon and the Vesak Festival Moon.

The term “supermoon” can refer to either a new or a full moon that happens at or near perigee syzygy, meaning the moon is at the closest point to Earth along its orbit around our planet.

The moon will appear full through Friday morning, according to a NASA release.
