LETTER: Water shortage

Clallam County, like many communities, is facing water shortages.

Growth and global warming will worsen the situation.

It is disappointing that the Charter Review Commission will propose no position on water for the general public to vote on, rather leaving it to the county commissioners to consider, if they will.

There is no doubt that conservation is necessary, but how? And who will monitor the situation?

The commission’s earlier attempt to do so lost by just a few votes.

I urge the Charter Review Commission to take up the matter again and reach out for a community voice by sending water-conservation proposals and other options for consideration to the voters.

The situation is urgent and needs to be addressed now.
