As a 29-year resident of Sequim and a homeschooling parent with over 30 years of experience, I urge you to vote an emphatic yes on the Sequim School District’s operating levy and construction bond.
The district’s buildings and facilities are well beyond their useful lifespan, despite ongoing, diligent and, I am certain, costly maintenance efforts to keep them usable and safe.
The campuses do not provide the level of security our students deserve in today’s world.
Functional, secure, vibrant and well-designed schools are essential for attracting new families and employees to the Olympic Peninsula.
Our schools must be safe, inside and out, on every level, both visibly and behind the scenes.
Our educators have been forced to make do with far too little for far too long in these aging and deteriorating buildings as they strive to educate the youth of Sequim, our future.
Please vote yes to reinvigorate, rebuild and renew our schools, ensuring a fully functional educational infrastructure for our community.
